Pacquiao, Clottey and Arum arrive in Big D for Tuesday press conference
Arlington, TX - Team Pacquiao and promoter Bob Arum touched down Monday night in North Texas for Tuesday's 1:00 PM local time press conference at co-promoter Jerry Jones' Cowboy Stadium in Arlington - 20 minutes from downtown Dallas.
Opponent Joshua Clottey also arrived and is staying at the same hotel /resort.
According to sources workers at the stadium are already working on the press conference.
Jones' Cowboys were knocked out of the NFL playoffs yesterday at Minnesota 34-3. So Jerry has time on his hands to work on the fight.
After the presser the group will get back on the plane for an early evening flight to New York City and a Wednesday presser there. On Thursday Pacquiao will begin training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, CA under Freddie Roach.
The group is staying at a luxury resort in nearby Las Colinas, near the soon to be imploded old Cowboys home of Texas Stadium. The former home of 38 years actually may be imploded one day during fight week March 7- 13. It is the same hotel Arum and Top Rank President Todd duBoef stayed in when they struck the deal with Jones the previous week.
Pacquiao has fought twice in Texas previously. Both times in the San Antonio Alamodome, which is about 280 miles south of Dallas.
The first fight was November 15, 2003 against Marco Antonio Barrera in what turned out to be the fight that really put Pacman on the boxing map. He scored a dominating 11th round stoppage against the heavily favored Mexican legend at 125 lbs.
The second fight was April 14, 2006 against Mexican Jorge Solis and Pacquiao scored an 8th round stoppage at 130 lbs.
